Robotic Repair of Mitral Endocarditis With Preoperative Neurologic Embolic Events

Tuesday, March 8, 2016

This video shows a complex mitral valve repair performed for active endocarditis with persistent bacteremia, fevers, and embolic neurologic events. The patient underwent a robotic-assisted repair with the excision of several vegetations, and then subsequent leaflet plasty and pericardial leaflet patch repair. The patient had an uneventful post-operative recovery with no recurrent neurologic events and resolution of the endocarditis.

Congratulations for your nice presentation. I think this approach will be a routine in specific centers using robotic technology in cardiac operations.
