This ECLS course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of ECMO. The course will cover basic and advanced understanding of Veno-arterial ECMO (VA-ECMO), Veno-venous ECMO (V-V ECMO, Veno-arterial-venous ECMO (VAV ECMO), Extracorporeal Carbon Dioxide Removal (ECCO2R), and Right Ventricular assist device ECMO (RVAD ECMO). Basic physics, physiology, and anatomy as pertained to ECMO will be discussed. The course will also entail best ECMO practices, cannulation techniques, systems management and ECMO mobility. Hi fidelity simulation and case discussions will be utilized to advance the learners' comfort level. The subject matter will be presented by a leading cardiac surgeon, a leading ECMO specialist and a perfusionist with experience spanning over four decades in ECMO. The target audiences will be Cardiac surgeons, intensivists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, advanced practitioners and perfusionists.
