Background

I'm a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge (UK).

My area of special interest is minimally invasive thoracic surgery uniportal and subxiphoid Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery.

I'm Thoracic surgery Unit audit lead and Enhanced recovery program Lead at the Royal Papworth Hospital.
I'm the surgical lead of the Quality Improvement Programme study (PQIP) at the Royal Papworth Hospital.
I'm the national surgical lead of the Quality Improvement Programme study (PQIP).

I undertook my Cardiothoracic specialist training in Padua, Udine (Italy) and in Bristol (UK).

In November 2011 I started working as consultant thoracic surgeon in Udine where I developed the minimally invasive program (VATS and robotic) for lung resections and thymectomies.
From January 2014 I introduced the uniportal vats lobectomy program.
From September 2015 I started the uniportal subxiphoid thymectomy program.

Between 2015 and 2016 I spent 3 months at the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital for a fellowship in minimally invasive thoracic surgery improving my clinical expertise in uniportal VATS segmental lung resections and learning the uniportal VATS subxiphoid approach for lung resections.

In June 2016 I started working as consultant thoracic surgeon at the royal Papworth Hospital.
