Thursday, August 11, 2022

Rivas DG, Bosinceanu M, Oliveira HA de, Dunning J. Uniportal Robotic Left Upper Lobe Sleeve Resection. August 2022. doi:10.25373/ctsnet.20477301

This video displays a uniportal robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (URATS) left upper sleeve lobectomy for a carcinoid tumor (live surgery from Brasilia, Brazil, on July 14, 2022). The tumor was in the left upper lobe with both an extension into the left upper lobe bronchus and also reaching the left main bronchus. An URATS LUL sleeve lobectomy was performed. Following the procedure, the postoperative course of the patient was uneventful.

This edited video demonstrates the highlights of the procedure. Lastly, the final pathology of the tumor showed a typical carcinoid tumor pT2aN0M0 with an R0 resection and a 3 mm bronchial resection margin.
