Friday, August 16, 2024

Dunning J, Rivas DG. The Diego Gonzales Rivas Foundation Brings Mobile Thoracic Surgery to Africa. August 2024. doi:10.25373/ctsnet.26676061

The Diego Gonzalez Rivas Foundation now has a fully equipped truck in which teams can perform state-of-the-art thoracic surgeries. This is the first time the foundation’s mobile surgery unit was used for treating patients in Accra, Ghana. Dr. Diego Gonzalez Rivas performed a pleurodesis and then a lobectomy for aspergilloma. This mobile surgery unit will travel throughout Africa offering minimally invasive surgery to those who cannot afford thoracic surgery and masterclasses for local surgeons.
