Instructional Video Competition

CTSNet is excited to introduce a new competition for cardiothoracic surgeons and clinical care providers who are passionate about teaching and learning. This opportunity is open to those dedicated to developing and sharing knowledge and skills that advance the field of cardiothoracic surgery. The CTSNet Instructional Video Competition highlights outstanding instructional videos that inspire and expand the skill sets of cardiothoracic surgeons and interprofessional teams worldwide. Submitted videos will broaden and enhance the CTSNet library of instructive videos for surgeons and clinical care providers. All CT surgery professionals, interprofessional team members, and researchers are eligible to enter and compete for the US $1,000 first-place prize.

Eligibility 

The competition is open to all cardiothoracic surgery team members and researchers. 

  

Competition Guidelines 

  • Only one submission per entrant will be accepted. 
  • Submitted video guidelines include the following:  
    • Videos can be any length; however, the video must include instructional information  
    • Videos can address a new topic or a known topic to which a video adds instructional value 
    • Authors should indicate whether the instructional content is intended for experienced surgeons or beginners 
    • All videos must adhere to all established guidelines for patient safety. 
  • Videos may or may not demonstrate a clinical case; instructional content on surgical solutions at preclinical and therapeutic stages of development will also be considered. 
  • To meet the CTSNet first authorship requirement, the entrant must have created and/or edited the videos and serve as the video's narrator. 
  • The submission must adhere to CTSNet standard submission guidelines.

Judging Criteria 

To evaluate the quality of video submissions, a panel of distinguished cardiothoracic professionals and CTSNet editors will serve as judges.  

Videos will be judged using the following criteria: 

  • Quality and quantity of instruction per unit of time related to length of video 
  • Quality of video and narration 
  • Quality of associated written submission content 
  • Benefit to patient care 

 

Submission Instructions 

Applicants must use the CTSNet content submission form to enter videos into the competition. Under Submission Type, please select Other and enter " Instructional Video Competition" in the following Description field. This ensures that the submission is considered for the competition.
