In this day and age, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) is considered the gold standard for the treatment of early stage non-small cell lung cancer. Nowadays, VATS can also be applied to challenging surgical procedures, such as the plasty of the pulmonary artery to obtain an oncologically radical resection of the tumor, even after a previous surgery on the thorax.
