Resident Video Competition
Now in its 10th year, the CTSNet Resident Video Competition highlights the skill, creativity, and innovation of residents in their respective cardiothoracic surgical specialties from around the globe. All qualifying entries will be featured on CTSNet.org and given the opportunity to compete for the top prize—all in pursuit of learning and optimizing patient care.

Entries for the 10th Annual CTSNet Resident Video Competition will close on December 27, 2024.

Eligibility
The competition is open to cardiothoracic surgery residents, general surgery residents, and medical students from various backgrounds and programs.
Competition Guidelines
- Only one submission per resident will be accepted.
- Surgical videos, interviews, roundtable discussions, and creative submissions relevant to cardiothoracic surgery or medical residency are all welcome!
- A resident must be the first author on a video for it to be considered. However, a resident does not need to be the primary surgeon in the operative video submission. To meet the CTSNet first authorship requirement, the resident must have created and/or edited the videos while also serving as the video's narrator.
- Videos should be no longer than 12 minutes.
- The submission must adhere to CTSNet's standard submission guidelines.

Judging Criteria
To evaluate the quality of video submissions, a panel of cardiothoracic professionals and editors will be serving as judges.
Rating criteria shall be based on the following characteristics:
- Quality: The video is of high quality, both in terms of surgery footage (if applicable) as well as presentation (graphics, narration, etc.).
- Originality: The video is unique in terms of topic, technique, and/or presentation.
- Contribution to the Specialty: This video contributes significantly to the advancement of the specialty, its educational resources, and/or its discourse.
Finally, following the closing of the submission period, the judges shall consult with one another to assign a competition winner and runners-up.
Submission Instructions
Applicants must use the CTSNet content submission form to enter videos into the competition. Under submission type, "Other" must be selected, followed by the words "Resident Video Competition" entered into the following description. This ensures the submission is considered for the competition.
