Survey: ESTS/AATS Guidelines for Venous Thromboembolism Prevention in Thoracic Surgery

Survey participation is encouraged for the ESTS/AATS Guidelines for Venous Thromboembolism Prevention in Thoracic Surgery.

These joint guidelines of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) and the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) offer draft recommendations on the prevention of cancer-associated venous thromboembolism in patients undergoing thoracic surgery, including lung resection, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and extended resections.

The guideline panel formulated recommendations based on:

  • Systematic reviews of evidence
  • Following the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach to assess the certainty in the evidence
  • Formulated recommendations using evidence-to-decision (EtD) frameworks We welcome comments on the draft recommendations, including those from AATS, ESTS and CTSNet members, non-member physicians, researchers, representatives of industry, representatives of government, patients, and members of the public.

Comments are accepted via this online survey until December 28, 2020. The survey is estimated to take 15 minutes to complete.

Individuals providing comments will not be identified by name in the published guidelines. All comments received during the public comment period will be reviewed by the guideline panel and considered prior to finalizing the guideline report for peer review and publication. Comments may influence additional explanations within the guideline report to expound judgements, decisions, and implementation considerations, or changes in judgements based on feedback received.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to our guideline development.
