CTSNet Step-by-Step Series: AVR Valve Excision and Debridement

Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Toh T, Ghosh M, Jayakumar S, Harling L, Varzaly J, Edwards J. CTSNet Step-by-Step Series: AVR Valve Excision and Debridement. February 2018. doi:10.25373/ctsnet.5878768.

This video takes the viewer through the initial steps of an aortic valve replacement, after the patient has been placed on cardiopulmonary bypass. Anatomical diagrams help to demonstrate the anatomical concepts surrounding these steps, which would otherwise be rather difficult to conceptualize for those not trained to do so.

Comments

Very interesting video, some comments after 30 years of practice: I Prüfer a vent via the left atrium and place a swab into the left ventricle to avoid loss of debris into the lumen, but never Forget to Remove it Prior to fixing the artificial Valve!
