The Importance of Evidence-Based Guidelines: An Interview With J. W. Awori Hayanga

At the 61st STS Annual Meeting, CTSNet senior editors set out to interview the most knowledgeable CT surgeons from around the world. Watch for more interviews from the meeting in the coming weeks.  

At the 2025 STS Annual Meeting, CTSNet Senior Editor Dr. Mara Antonoff spoke with Dr. J. W. Awori Hayanga about the importance of evidence-based surgery. They discussed what STS does to help develop guidelines for evidence-based surgery, the two types of guidelines, and why guidelines are useful. They also explained the role of evidence-based guidelines, the awareness of practice guidelines, and provided an overview of the guidelines session that was presented at the meeting.
