Surgical Treatments of Aortic Root Aneurysms: 2024 London Core Review Cardiothoracic Surgery Course

In this session from the 2024 London Core Review Cardiothoracic Surgery Course, Dr. Tirone David discusses the surgical treatments of aortic root aneurysms. He examines the anatomy of the aortic root and thoracic aorta, the pathology of the aortic root and ascending aorta, primary and secondary aortic root aneurysms, and aortic root aneurysms associated with genetic syndromes. Dr. David also explores matching the aortic valve sparing to the aortic root pathology, aortic valve-sparing operations in patients with Marfan syndrome, and the bicuspid aortic valve.   

Also, during this session Dr. Venkatachalam Chandrasekran pays tribute to the late-cardiac surgeon Dr. Ashkok Cherian. He discusses Dr. Cherian’s personal and professional life, and his contributions to the cardiothoracic field.
