Recent studies have found that SAVR after TAVR has a significantly high mortality rate. Because of this, surgeons should try to avoid redo procedures in TAVR patients by considering how different risk factors will contribute to outcomes. Some researchers argue that while the database that supplied this research is large, it lacks granularity.

Models created using artificial intelligence can now be used to help identify patients who may need a permanent pacemaker after transcatheter valve surgery.

In the first analysis to validate observed clinical outcomes, two trials compared transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) to surgical aortic valve replacement (AVR). Valve dysfunction was found to be less common after five years in TAVR.

Tricuspid valve (TV) treatment, at its current status, represents a real dilemma since different options are available but long-term results still to be seen and lots of new strategies are still to come.

This video shows a step-by-step approach for transapical TMVI with the Tendyne valve in an eighty-one-year-old high surgical risk patient with severe primary mitral regurgitation and prior TAVI.

In this video, the authors present their first experience with the transeptal implantation of the Amend ring with special insight into the preprocedural planning.

This video demonstrates valve-in-valve transeptal transcatheter mitral valve implantation (TMVI) in a high-risk patient.
March 29, 2023
In this video, transcatheter mitral valve replacement methods are reviewed—valve-in-valve, valve-in-ring, and valve-in-MAC—focusing on the challenges of the techniques and how to improve outcomes through appropriate patient selection and specialized techniques.

In the second installment of this week’s Guest Editor Series, Axel Unbehaun presents a case of TAVR in which standard techniques were not an option. Instead, the team used a transcaval approach to successfully complete the procedure.
