The Fundamentals of Robotic Thoracic Surgery
Franca Melfi of the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, discusses her 13 years of experience performing robotic thoracic surgery. Dr. Melfi compares robotic lung resection to VATS and open techniques, and identifies the need for additional, long-term studies to fully evaluate the risks and benefits of each technique. Dr. Melfi also shares her own experience with robotic surgery, and urges colleagues to continue innovating robotic techniques.
