Joel Dunning talks with Douglas Wood, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Endowed Chair of Lung Cancer Research at the University of Washington. Dr. Wood served as the President of the Society of Thoracic Surgery (2013-2014), and currently serves on the CTSNet Board of Directors. In this interview, Mr. Dunning and Dr. Wood discuss the uncommon but useful sleeve pneumonectomy procedure, lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema, and thoracotomy techniques. Dr. Wood also discusses the importance of specialization for the future of thoracic surgery.
